The Blanco 7th grade football team beat the Jourdanton Indians 30-14 Thursday, Sept. 10.

After fumbling to ends its first drive deep in Jourdanton territory, Blanco was successful on its second possession, capping the drive with a touchdown pass from Diego Soto to Trey Atchley. Soto connected with Foster Capshaw for the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead with 4:43 left in the first quarter.

After an exchange of possessions, Jourdanton fumbled at its own 30 and Chance Martinez recovered for Blanco. Soto scored on a six-yard run as the Panthers went up 14-0.

After the intermission, the Indians fumbled on the kickoff and Colten Kuebel recovered for Blanco. The Panthers took the ball at the Indians’ 36 and needed just three plays for paydirt, scoring on a run by Soto. Blanco led 22-0 with 5:55 left in the third after a Soto two-point conversion run.

Jourdanton scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion, but Blanco answered with another scoring drive. Logan Schwarzlose caught the kickoff and ran it to the 40-yard line of Jourdanton. Broderick Siwecki carried the ball 40 yards for a touchdown. Soto added the two point conversion. Jourdanton scored another touchdown, but the extra point attempt was no good. Blanco ran out the clock for the 30-14 win.

Offensively, Soto, Siwecki, Atchley, Capshaw, Justin Karnes and Westin Walker all helped run the ball. Defensively, tackles were made by Kuebel, Capshaw, Siwecki, Atchley, Donovan Hector, Kaden Elrod, Hunter Rodriguez, Jackson Curry and Cody Waltrip.

The 7th grade Panthers travel to Jarrell Thursday. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
