The Blanco 8th grade football team fell 12-0 to the Jourdan Indians last Thursday.

The Indians scored a touchdown on their opening drive, but missed the two-point conversion attempt. Jourdanton led 6-0 with seven minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Blanco was forced to put on its first possession, but then held firm on defense, forcing Jourdanton to turn the ball over on downs. The Panthers fumbled on their ensuing possession, but got the ball back on an interception by Colby Murphree at midfield.

The first half ended with Jourdanton leading 6-0.

The two teams played tough defense in the second half. Jourdanton scored a touchdown with 5:44 left in the fourth quarter to add to its lead. The two-point attempt was not successful.

Offensively, Murphree, Carson Riba, Wyatt Martinez, Jacob Johnson, Manuel Cerda and Tanner Gibbons carried the ball for the Panthers. Defensively, stops were made by Riba, Johnson, Murphree, Martinez, Michael Serrano, Isaiah Mancha, Holden Burt and Logan Gilbert.

The Panthers take on the Cougars at Jarrell on Thursday. Kickoff is set for 5:45 p.m.
