When much of the world is just pouring their first cup of coffee, the Blanco cross country team is running its 6 a.m. practice route.
The runners started workouts the first week of August and ran in their first meet in Harper Thursday, Sept. 10. The Panthers competed against teams from Kerrville Tivy, Fredericksburg and Llano.
Two Blanco runners medaled. Evelyn Trammell placed 11th, running the 3200 meter (approximately two mile) course in 14:12. Laci Creswell placed 23rd with a time of 14:45 and also medaled.
Panther team members and their times are: Riley Edmondson, 15:45; McKenna Clark, 15:46; Ella West, 16:19; Kendall Kramer, 16:32; Valen Edwards, 16:43; Lauren Anderson, 16:55; Avery Nance, 18:09; and Chloe Luna, 19:23.
The boys run a 5000 meter (approximately three mile) course. Hayden Dotson finished the course in 20:50. Joshua Ludolf ran the course in 21:30. Jess Whitehead had a time of 25:13.
The team competes at the Wimberley meet on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
