‘Stuff the Bus’ set for Sept. 26

The Blanco Lion’s Club hosts a “Stuff the Bus” campaign each year for citizens to raise money and collect school supplies for underprivileged students at Blanco ISD schools. Underprivileged at-home-learners will be included in the distribution.

The campaign this year has been a little different due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We made changes because of COVID and we wanted to give people two different ways to donate, depending on comfort level,” said Amber Corder, club vice president.

Citizens can donate virtually via a GoFundMe page which can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/f/stuff-the-bus-blanco. The GoFundMe page allows the Lion’s Club to receive donations without contact.

On Saturday, Sept. 26, the yellow school bus will be parked on the town square across from the post office from 9-11 a.m. Donated supplies such as school supplies, backpacks, earbuds, and more will be collected by members of the Lion’s Club. Masks will be worn and social distancing will be practiced. School supplies will be placed in a box and not on the bus this year.

“We will be there to greet the community and say thank you,” said Corder.

All items must be wrapped in the original packaging and there will also be a jar for monetary donations that Saturday. A complete list of school supplies for each grade can be found at https://www.blancoisd.com/Lists.
