It’s that time of year again! Blanco County will be holding its countywide Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event on Sept. 26 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. or until the collection capacity has been met.
Bring your hazardous waste to the county drop off location, the Blanco County/Waste Connections Transfer Station at 377 Transfer Road in Johnson City. The event is sponsored by Blanco Pedernales Underground Water Conservation District, Blanco County Recycling Center, RBM, Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG), and Waste Connections, Inc.
This hazardous waste collection event is for Blanco County residents only. Citizens will remain in their vehicles with a mask or face covering while waiting in line and going through the offloading area. Items must be in household quantities. Containers such as gas cans offloaded from one’s vehicle will be disposed of and not returned, so make sure to plan accordingly.
Items accepted include: paints, aerosols, chemicals (pool, lawn, garden), cleaning products, used oils under 5 gallons, solvents, mercury, batteries, small propane tanks, fluorescent light bulbs, antifreeze, flammable solids and liquids.
Several items are not accepted, including tires, explosives, ammunition, bio-hazardous waste, electronics, trash, PCB containing items, sharps/needles, agricultural pesticides, herbicides, and insectivices, radioactive materials, waste from business, and freon.
Donations are also welcomed and appreciated. The county reserves the right to refuse any load that may be harmful or unsafe to persons or property, and is not responsible for any accidents, or damage to personal property while participating in the Blanco County Household Hazardous Waste Collection event.
