James Leonard “Jim” Hokkanen

James Leonard “Jim” Hokkanen of Blanco passed away Aug. 6, 2020 in Austin. James was born Nov. 25, 1935 in Kingston, Minnesota to Alfred Leonard Hokkanen and Mary Elizabeth (Saukkola) Hokkanen.

James attended St. Cloud State University before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served his country proudly during the Korean War era. After the military, James completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Minnesota. James’ professional career was primarily spent with Ford Motor Company Finance division. Later, he and Bernice had their own human resource consulting firm.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Joan Fuchs.

James is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Bernice (Kuck) Hokkanen; three children, Stephen Skinner and wife Melody, Elizabeth Brewer and husband John, and Jill Boothe and husband Ronald; siblings, Janet Linn and husband Dave, Jerry Hokkanen and wife Vickie, and Jack Hokkanen and wife Marsha; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexander, and Sophia Brewer, Racheal Minchew and Brandon and Crystal Boothe; James is also survived by other loving relatives and many dear friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
