The Texas Society of the Sons of the American Revolution awarded the Blanco Good Samaritan Center a certificate of commendation recognizing them for “exemplary patriotism in the display of the flag of the United States of America.

Presenting the certificate on behalf of the William Hightower Chapter #35 is Blair Rudy, TX SAR State Society Southern Color Guard Commander. Accepting the award was Bert Dieringer, Good Samaritan’s vice president, and Travis Tomlinson, Eagle Boy Scout of America. Tomlinson is a long-time volunteer at Good Sam and has assumed the responsibility of maintaining the center’s flag. He manages the flag for wear and tear, and when needed he disposes flags with all honors as outlined in the The Flag Code Title 4, United States Code, Chapter 1.

Blair Rudy said, “it’s an honor to recognize Blanco Good Samaritan Center volunteers’ outstanding flag etiquette as they continue to serve our community with love, pride and distinction. I also want to thank our Blanco County citizens for their continued monetary contributions to the center’s food bank during these challenging times.”
