In addition to her husband of 75 years, James, and her parents, Esther is preceded in death by brothers Hugo, Rudolph, Felix, Emil, Stanley and Walter, and a sister, Sarah.

Esther and James graduated from Brackenridge High School where she was a member of the Purple Jackets. She married her high school sweetheart, James M. Dowlearn on June 30, 1943 while he was home on leave from serving in the U. S. Merchant Marines during World War II. James and Esther had three children, Sandra L. Ginder (George), Melody K. Howard, and Douglas R. Dowlearn (Andrea); nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Esther worked for S & P Railroad, Sears, Roebuck and Judson Independent School District along with being a wonderful wife and mother.
