Like so many students, in Blanco and throughout the country, the Blanco High School softball team saw its 2020 season come to a sudden and unexpected end. As a result, a good team was denied the chance to see how far they could have gone in the playoffs. Many of the players will have an opportunity to try again next year, but not the team’s four seniors.
To recognize the work these seniors put in, and to thank them for their leadership, the softball team gathered one last time, right before graduation. The coaches, Mike Seales and Matt Karnes, spoke of their combination of pride in what these seniors had accomplished, and regret about their last season ended just two games into district play. The players thanked the seniors, and presented them with gift baskets filled with candy, gift cards and things they might need in college, as a token of their appreciation.
Catcher Addy Seymour, who will be attending Texas A&M and joining the Corps of Cadets, while pitcher Kyla Davis is also A&M bound. Manager Malinda Campbell attend Abilene Christian University, and outfielder Ashlee LaRue will attend Ole Miss to both study and play softball.
All four seniors were also named Academic All-State by the Texas High School Coaching Association.
