The Blanco County Elections Commission was called to order at 10:13 a.m. on April 17 by Judge Brett Bray in the Hoppe Room at 101 East Cypress in Johnson City.
Laura Walla, county clerk; Kristen Spies, county tax assessor/collector; Carlette Lewis, Republican Party chair; Terry Casparis, Democratic Party chair; and Kim Ashby, assistant county attorney, were present. The meeting was streamed through Zoom.
Kenneth Welch provided his public comments through the Zoom platform. He encouraged the commissioners to schedule a meeting to discuss the upcoming election.
“I hope you take these issues very soon, get started early so that you will be prepared and that the voters in Blanco County will know what to expect,” said Welch.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. Bray informed the others that the applicant who was asked for a second interview withdrew her application, but there was still one applicant to interview.
The commission adjourned into executive session at 10:19 a.m. and returned to regular session at 11:37 a.m. After the meeting was back in regular session, it was announced that additional electronic advertisement of the election administrator job description and notice will be posted. More information will be available at the county’s website. The newspaper notice is no longer running. An additional banner to promote the election administrator position on the county’s website might be added as well.
A meeting to discuss the election processes will be scheduled soon. Casparis moved to adjourn and Walla seconded; the motion passed and the meeting concluded at 11:44 a.m.
