Marci Henna grew up in Johnson City and keeps up with friends and family here. She and her husband, Louis Henna, understand the challenges faced by Blanco County residents, particularly in current times, with COVID-19.
“We care very much about Blanco County, and the donation is a love gift,” Marci Henna said. “Education and job training are important to us, as well as helping to meet basic needs for people who may be without a job. We’re pleased to support the CRC, which is providing a new home for the food pantry and much needed services for job seekers.”
The CRC will be renamed the Louis and Marci Henna Blanco County Community Resource Center in recognition of the $500,000 donation.
Louis and Marci Henna are dedicated to giving a hand up to those who have struggled and fallen through the cracks. “Sometimes, we all need a second chance,” Marci Henna said. “We appreciate the services, such as drug treatment and mental health services, provided through the CRC, to assist Blanco County residents embarking on a path to a better future.”
As the owners of the Henna Chevrolet auto dealership, the Hennas are a well-known name in Austin. They are also philanthropists and serve on a number of non-profit boards. Marci Henna (nee Gipson) is the author of Fireside, Texas, a series of novels written as a tribute to her family.
“On behalf of the Blanco County CRC and the Texas Housing Foundation, it is an honor to accept this generous donation,” said Donna Klaeger, Executive of the Community Resource Centers of Texas, Inc. “Our mission is to be the one-stop shop for health and human services in Blanco County. Now, with access to services limited by COVID-19, we feel that our mission is more important than ever.”
The CRC serves all residents of Blanco County. Currently, it is closed to walk-in services, but phone lines are open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Contact the CRC at (830) 868-0208. Dawn Capra and Cissy Arnold, the CRC Site Coordinators, continue to be available by phone to assist those in need by connecting you to services.
