Anna Sue McNett, 98, of Cushing, Texas died peacefully in the early morning of Sept. 8, 2019 at her home with members of her family at bedside.
Born in Twitty, Texas in 1921, she was the eldest daughter of Texas Panhandle rancher and farmer Haemer Milton Williams and his wife Zell Bell Williams. The family later moved to Shamrock, Texas.
She had two younger siblings - Joy Sunshine McDowell and Harold H. Williams. Both are now deceased.
Anna Sue attended high school in Twitty, Texas and Shamrock, Texas. She attended college at West Texas State in Canyon, Texas, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics.
She married Dr. Roy Christian McNett in 1941.
Dr. McNett joined the U.S. Navy and served 30-plus years in Washington, Maryland, Virginia, California, Spain and Panama before retiring with rank of Captain, USN DDS,
Survivors include daughters Rowena Christine Hoskins (husband Donald Ray Hoskins) of Cushing, Marilyn Joyce Hill (husband James David Hill, deceased), and son Roy Christian McNett, Jr. (wife Veronica McNett) of Cushing and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Roy C. McNett and a son Michael Judd McNett of Nacogdoches (surviving wife Joan McNett of Nacogdoches).
Flowers can be sent to Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel. Memorial donations can be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Reseach, Humane Society of Nacogdoches, Big Rock Gospel Church in Cushing and Cushing Food Bank of East Texas.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel.
