Bruce Charles Huguelet
(1940-2019)

Bruce Charles Huguelet, 78, of Blanco, Texas passed away on Friday, July 26, 2019, at the Heart Hospital of Austin.

Bruce was born on Oct. 6, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois to Margery (nee Sheibley) and Charles Huguelet. Bruce was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School, Roosevelt University and Northern Illinois University. His professional career was diverse, most recently teaching physics at Austin Community College and San Antonio College. Professionally he was a member of Toastmasters International, Mensa International, and Sigma Xi. Personally, Bruce’s interests were as wide-ranging as his career: from amateur radio to gardening, shooting to flying, running to motorcycling.

He was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran, past commander of American Legion Post #352 in Blanco, and a lifetime member of the NRA.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Christine (nee Isabel) of Blanco; sons, James (Tiffany) and Thomas of Chicago; step daughters, Dallas Grumbles and Shannon Elderkin of Blanco; grandchildren Noah Huguelet, Michael Friese, Daytona Leonard, Krista Rodriguez, Billy Carnes, Carolyn Carnes and Anthony Christianson; eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bruce is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dog, Jackson.

Visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home (911 Mesquite St., Blanco) with a recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church (25 Main St. in Blanco). Interment at the Ploch Family Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to American Legion Post #352, 111 Blanco Avenue, Blanco, Texas 78606.

His independence, spirit of curiosity and love of family, country, and freedom will forever be remembered. Peace be unto his memory.
