Dale William Metcalf
(1940-2019)
Dale William Metcalf —

Dale William Metcalf was born October 24, 1940 (78) in Curtis, Michigan where he resided most of his life. Dale went home to his Savior Jesus Christ on July 2, 2019 in Fredericksburg, Texas due to complications of colon cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. On one of his visits to Texas Dale whole heartedly gave himself over to the Lord and was water baptized. Graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Curtis Cemetery, Curtis, Michigan on Monday, August 12 at 11:00 am.

He is survived by his six children, twenty grand and four great-grandchildren: Donnie and wife Kristi Metcalf, Grandchildren: Quinnlin and husband Dylan Salge their daughters Stori and Truly Salge, Wyatt, Karli, Payton, Dakota, Carson, and Bentley; Ronnie Metcalf and his children Aaron and Atrina; April and husband Jimmy Klepac and their children Leighton, Avery, Harleigh and Tatum; Daniel Metcalf; Krista and husband Pastor JD Link and their children; Haley and husband Aaron Diaz and their children Jeremy and Liam Diaz, A1C Hayden, Holly, Hannalea, and Hudson; and Elly and husband Duane Wilson and their children, Tri and Autumn.

Also survived by his siblings: Lorraine (George) Metcalf, Glen and Linda Metcalf, Carolyn Burton, Phyllis Fahler, Connie Ward, Derry Metcalf, Marilyn and Steve Zellar, Cindy (Steve) Lawry and Sherry and Norm Burton and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Elsie (Smith) Metcalf and brothers George, Johnny, and Steve and brothers-in-law Harry Burton and Butch Ward.

We would like to extend gratitude to Knopp 2 Nursing Home. The care by the nursing and aide staff helped maintain as healthy and prolonged life as possible all while providing the best and most loving care available.

Dale enjoyed eating, ice fishing or ‘South Texas Ice’ fishing, hunting, his Detroit Tigers and westerns especially anything starring his hero John Wayne. He had many sayings he was quick to interject over the years. Here are our favorites, hope you can hear him saying them: “What the devil!” “Hey there kiddo!” “Hey there young feller.” “Here’s looking at you going down me!” (for a toast) “Doesn’t take a gardener to tell that from a rose.” “Jerk the slack out of your line.” “Ahh, just resting my eyes.” “If that comes up again we will both vote on it.” “Little whipper snapper.”

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m., August 12, 2019, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Curtis, Michigan with Jimmy Klepac officiating under the direction of Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry, Michigan. Local arrangements were handled by Crofts-Crow Funeral Home in Blanco, Texas.
