Blanco Quilt Guild Recognized by BPD
Blanco Quilt Guild Presents Quilts to Blanco Police Dept. —
Chief Mike Ritchey

The Blanco Police Department would like to recognize and thank the Blanco Quilting Guild for providing quilts that are distributed to Blanco County Child Protection and Advocacy Board, Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center and Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center. The quilts are given to kids that have experienced an emotional event or have been abused. The Blanco Police Department along with the mentioned organizations show these traumatized kids that there are many people in society that support them and walk hand in hand with them during their trying and emotional event.

This project is not possible without the Blanco Quilting Guild that provides these lovely and bright quilts. I believe that the quilts that are made, produced and distributed to the police department are made with the care, love and personal touch of the ladies that belong to the guild. The personal touch that goes into making the quilts is so strong that I believe the kids find comfort knowing that there are people in society that truly are looking out for them. It is the partnering between the Guild, The Blanco Police Department and the distributing agencies that truly makes this project a success and a valuable project in the areas in and around Blanco County.

Officers on patrol carry in their patrol units a quilt with a stuffed animal to give out as needed to kids that have been identified or have been involved in an emotional event. This is just another way to assist the kids in our area to recover from difficulty and emotional events.

The picture has several of the members of the guild holding quilts made by them. They are truly a work of art and demonstrate the personal love and care that go into each one. From left to right in the picture is: Diana Reeves, Judy Gaines, Betty Fort, Sue Thompson, Carol, Ramsey, Mary Sward and Lana Cowles.
