Sweet Hill Country Surprise
The evergreen shrub known as the Agarita is in full bloom. The fragrance of the tiny lemon-yellow blooms fills the air in late winter heralding the coming of spring. For many new to the Texas Hill country, these bushes that can grow to 6 feet in height, may seem to be thorny underbrush to be cleared by ranches and homeowners. The flowers bring forth bright red berries that can be eaten raw or cooked.
