DRIPPING SPRINGS, TX (March 2, 2021) — Organizations from across Central Texas announced today they will partner together to support the Texas Strong Relief Concert at Dreamland, the new outdoor entertainment, recreation, and arts venue in Dripping Springs, on Saturday, March 13 with 100% of the profits from ticket sales and donations benefiting the Texas Farmer Winter Storm Relief fund. Donations are open, and tickets on sale now. More information, along with a donation link, is available at https://dreamlanddstx.com/events/texas-strong-relief.
Partnering organizations include Dreamland, Richard’s Rainwater, Deep Eddy Vodka, Central Texas Food Bank, Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, Well Aware, Blue Norther Live, and Urban American Farmer.
The Texas Farmer Winter Storm Relief fund was created by a coalition of farm organizations from across Texas in response to the crippling winter storm Texas experienced over the last week that not only dealt a serious blow to the state’s water and energy infrastructure, but also had a terrible impact on small, sustainable family farmers and ranchers throughout Texas who provide the majority our state’s agricultural resources. The fund will provide relief for small and medium-sized farms across Texas, focusing on those using sustainable and organic methods, giving priority to farmers of color. Funds will also support future disaster relief work and ongoing climate adaptation for farmers.
“Farmers and ranchers all across the state lost field crops, animals, eggs and seedlings to the freeze. Irrigation and greenhouse infrastructure buckled under the cold and snow. This disaster is a symptom of a larger problem, a lack of resources and support for small and medium-sized independent family farms. But as hard as we have been hit, our farming community is meeting this moment by coming together even harder. The recovery process will be long and challenging, but we will build back stronger, together,” said Carolina Mueller, president of Central Texas Young Farmers Coalition.
Along with Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (TOFGA), the steering committee for Texas Farmer Winter Storm Relief fund includes Central Texas Young Farmers Coalition, Farm & Ranch Freedom Alliance, GROW North Texas, Texas Center for Local Food, Texas Small Farmers & Ranchers Community-Based Organization, and University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Agroecology.
On March 13, the benefit concert will run from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. with music starting at 4 p.m. Austin-based artists Bruce Robison & Kelly Willis will headline the concert, performing along with Jackie Venson, Ray Prim, Sir Woman and Rochelle and the Sidewinders. All music performances at Dreamland, located on 64 acres in the Texas Hill Country, will take place outdoors on the property’s large stage overlooking an expansive turf lawn.
General admission tickets are on sale now for $100, and VIP tickets are available for $500. Each general admission ticket will include free beverages, mini-golf, and parking. VIP tickets will receive reserved premium concert seating, table service, access to a back of house VIP lounge, private bathrooms, free beverages, free food, mini-golf and parking.
In addition to music performances, the benefit will host a food drive supporting Central Texas Food Bank. All food donations will directly help feed the community during these difficult times. Donation drop-off will begin at Dreamland today, March 2, and will continue until the night of the benefit.
The health and safety of all attendees, as well as that of the staff, crew and artists are the organizer’s top priority. Not only is Dreamland following the latest CDC guidelines, but they will be requiring complimentary rapid testing for all staff and attendees before entering the venue. If you present a vaccination card you’re not required to take the Covid test. Additional safety measures include keeping capacity limited to 50%, sanitizing public surface areas at regular intervals during the event, staff hygiene and health monitoring, socially distanced layouts, encouraging patrons to maintain a safe distance of at least 6 feet from others not in their party while on site, and more.
