The Highland Lakes community invites the rest of the world to come together online for the second free concert on the shores of Lake Marble Falls. Celebrating local workers, business owners, and musicians, the concert can be seen and heard on either Facebook Live, KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune, or Northland Cable Channel 9 from 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 1.

In between musical performances, by Pauline Reese, Brandon Alan, and Wake Eastman, the broadcast will feature videos of local business owners talking about the effects of the pandemic on their employees. A donation button will be available online for anyone wanting to give to the Highland Lakes Crisis Network. Every cent collected will go toward helping people who have lost their jobs or were furloughed due to COVID-19 restrictions to pay their bills and feed their families.

The concerts were inspired by Alan, who has been “playing to the water” on Lake LBJ in Horseshoe Bay, attracting boaters to the sound and lining up listeners on his Facebook page.

“This is not a concert in the normal sense,” Alan said. “We are putting a major focus on local businesses and why people need to get back to work. The musicians are the vessel for the message.”

This second concert will be a continued celebration of local businesses now slowing reopening their doors in Phase 1 of Governor Greg Abbott’s latest COVID-19 orders. Videos will spotlight the strength and resilience of the people who live, work, and play in the Highland Lakes.

“You can be part of this celebration from wherever,” said Amber Weems, CEO and president of Victory Media Marketing, the company that owns The Picayune Magazine, 101 Fun Things to do in the Highland Lakes magazine, KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune, 101HighlandLakes.com, DailyTrib.com, The Daily and The 101 email newsletters, and The Picayune Area-wide Phonebook.

“We are all in this together,” Weems continued. “We felt this would be a great way to lift everyone up and celebrate our lives here in the beautiful Highland Lakes. We have a lot to be thankful for, and, together, we are all going to get through this.”

Boaters can enjoy the Community Concert Series show from the lake behind Hampton Inn on the Lake in Marble Falls. Everyone else is invited to watch via Facebook Live or Channel 9 on Northland Cable. They can also listen live by tuning in to KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune or streaming it on KBEYFM.com.

Every aspect of this concert, including sound equipment, musical talent, videos, venue space, and publicity, has been donated.

Along with Victory Media Marketing, the event is sponsored by Hampton Inn on the Lake, Lake Shores Church, First Baptist Church of Marble Falls, KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune, the Highland Lakes Crisis Network, and the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce.
