Stonewall, Texas – March 4, 2020 – Kuhlman Cellars will host a Vina Vita University “Barrel to Blend” wine blending class on March 22, 2020 from 11 am – 1 pm. This installment of Kuhlman Cellars’ wine appreciation series, led by Kuhlman Cellars’ winemaker Bénédicte Rhyne, will teach the art and science of wine blending.
In an industry relying as much on its artistry as chemistry, students will examine how even small decisions deliver great change. After learning wine blending theory, students will work as a team to try their own hand at the blending process to create their own red blend. The Class Champion blend will go head-to-head with the Kuhlman Cellars Staff Champion blend for the chance to become a Kuhlman Cellars wine.
Topics discussed in this class include:
Winemaking basics and terminology
Winemaker decisions and impacts to palate experience
Discuss wine 'Structure' and how it is built through blending
Attendees will also:
Taste and evaluate several 2019 Kuhlman Cellars red wines as candidates for blending
