Come to Bastrop the last weekend of April, April 29 – May 1 for Bastrop Festival Weekend. Bring the family for 3 days of fun starting Friday night; the Bastrop Family Rodeo Club will be hosting a United Professional Cowboys Association sanctioned rodeo at 7:30 at Mayfest Hill Park. Friday night’s rodeo will be Nurses Appreciation Night then at the Bastrop Opera House come enjoy some good ol’ country and gospel music by Terry Lyne Moore & the McMillans, 711 Spring Street.

On Saturday from 9 am – 5 pm in Fisherman’s Park, Yesterfest: Return to the River will be celebrating Bastrop’s rich and colorful history with artisans, demonstrators and great music all day along the Colorado River while Naturefest will have all kinds of fun for all ages to experience nature through games, outdoor activities, demonstrations and great food!

The Rodeo Saturday night is Veterans Appreciation Night, a United Professional Cowboys Association sanctioned rodeo at 7:30 at Mayfest Hill Rodeo Arena.

Also, Saturday evening at 7:30 pm or on Sunday matinee at 2:00 pm, you can enjoy the performance of “A Trial That Never Was: The Shooting of Richard Armstrong Shirley,” presented by the Bastrop County Bar Association. Reservations can be made with David Bragg at [email protected].

Also, on Sunday, May 1 “The North Star” a film which tells the story of two slaves who escaped and made their way to freedom in 1849, aided by those involved with the Underground Railroad will be shown at the Bastrop Opera House.
