Everything is going into full-bloom mode – bluebonnets, Indian paintbrush, and more, and the roadsides are a riot of color. How about your yard? Is it also? The next “How Pinteresting!” Program at the Llano Library will bring some forever flowers to your yard in the form of dinner plate flowers. These are adorable dinner plate, saucer, and cup creations that will brighten any corner of your yard. The Library will provide the supplies for the first ten people registered, but you are welcome to bring your own supplies and join the fun and create your own.
For some inspiration for the yard art flowers, go to a Yahoo search page type in “dinner plate and saucer yard art flowers” and click on “images”. Check out some of the designs made with clear and colored glass, and even the ones made with deviled egg plates – they are just dazzling! Again, the library will provide the glue, so if you have some special plates you can join the group and make your own design. All creations will need to be left at the library for 24 hours to dry.
Are you ready to learn more about a sustainable lifestyle? Want to know what others here in the area are doing? How about actually visiting a local homestead to see for yourself firsthand these concepts put into practice? The Back to Basics group at the Llano Library will make a variety of topics – and field trips – available each month so that you will have the opportunity to learn these valuable skills.
The next program will be “An Overview of Al Kelln's Homestead” from 10:00 a.m. – 12 noon on Saturday, March 19 (registration required). Al will give a brief tour of his homestead covering Aquaponics, Hydroponics, Raised Bed Gardening, Water Conservation, Raising Quail, and Rabbit and Chicken Manure for compost. More comprehensive programs on the various topics will be held at a later date. Contact Tommi at 325.247.5248 or [email protected] for more information. Stay up-to-date and get more info at the new Facebook page www.facebook.com/BacktoBasicsLlano
