The Llano Country Opry hosts Barbara Fairchild

There are singers and then there are Singers, and in Llano on Saturday the latter performed for 2 hours at the Llano Country Opry. Barbara Fairchild and her husband, Roy Morris, brought their Branson, Missouri act to Llano entertaining the audience with wit and song. Fairchild, best known for her 1973 hit, “The Teddy Bear Song”, a crossover number 1 hit that also went to number 32 on the pop charts.

This show was somewhat different than most of the Oprys here in Llano as Fairchild and Morris did both halves of the performance. That was not a problem with the audience hearing a legend perform for the entire concert. After a brief intermission, and one song by the Llano Country Opry Band, the duo came back on stage singing and joking with each other. Their music included the hits Barbara had in the 70’s and 80’s along with a number of gospel songs along the way, and their love songs were some of the best, there is an obvious love between the two.

The Llano Country Opry continues in April with country music super star, Bobby Bare on April 9, tickets are available at www.hillbillyhits.com or at the Llano Chamber of Commerce.
