Mason Fall Arts Festival Featured Artist: Judy Row
Mon, October 26, 2015 8:58 AM

Mason Fall Arts Festival is coming up on October 31, 11-4 p.m. with Hill Country artists and musicians set up around the Historic Mason Square. The festival will feature talented artists like Judy Row from Wimberley, providing not only amazing artwork, but also demonstrations and activities to try your hand as an artist.

Judy Row is a well-known fiber artist from the Hill Country who has had many years of experience in her field. Recently retiring from Texas State University, she now works full-time in her studio on sculptural fiber art. Her work has been displayed in galleries in New Jersey, Minnesota, Colorado and Texas.

Row's works combine the textile processes of weaving, knitting, crocheting and coiling. She describes the tasks involved in these processes as being "reflective of the quiet repetition of daily activities, the slight changes in patterns, textures and colors that mark the day, the activity, the object, as different today than it was yesterday."

Judy Row is the featured artist this month at the Arnold Art Gallery. Stop in during the Mason Fall Arts Festival on October 31st 11-3 p.m. to meet this talented artist and watch her demonstration of her techniques for combining multiple coil segments into a large sculpture. You can even try your hand at coiling with Row as your guide. Materials will be provided free of charge by the artist, just bring yourself and your imagination!
