Dear Mason community, Many of you have expressed concern about the recent closure of the Eckert James River Bat Cave Preserve (EJRBC). While we understand that visiting the cave has become a long-honored tradition, we have decided to temporarily close the preserve for the safety of our visitors. On June 29, a neighboring landowner treated their property with a fog pesticide while guests were gathering to view the nightly bat emergence at EJRBC.
